About Me and My Projects

ABOUT ME
I qualified in Liverpool with a Diploma in Architecture becoming a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and registered with ARB (Architects Registration Board). I began my career in the Architect’s department of the Liverpool Regional Hospital Board then Weightman and Bullan, before moving to Bolton and joining the practice of Bradshaw Gass and Hope. I then established my own practice in 1980 and since then enjoyed acting as Architect on a variety of projects including domestic, residential, medical, care homes and education. The majority of work has been in the North West but also have been appointed in the Midlands and London.
Former Chair and Vice-chairman of the SPG. A branch of the RIBA for members in the North West region.
Semi-retired and continue to practice, simply enjoying working with people, using and discovering the advantages of new technologies.😀🏛️
IT COULD BE THE GRAND DESIGN
OR THE SMALL CHANGE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Sometimes it’s just reorganizing the layout or just a small extension that can make all the difference as in the example in Hazel Grove. Changing your property to suit your needs and life style
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I have an impressive portfolio of successfully completed projects and also understand the implications having built my own with side extensions on Ennerdale Drive and Cartmel Close. A make over, loft and dormer on Hawkstone Avenue, Whitefield and finally a new build house which featured in a Sunday colour supplement and breakfast TV. Our present home in Gatley has also been altered and extended.
A VARIETY OF PROJECTS
During my career I have been privileged to have designed and worked on Medical, Care Homes, Education and Commercial Projects
MEDICAL
My first Medical Project was back in the 1980’s for Dr Neil Finnegan one of the first ‘Cost Rent’ schemes in Salford, after which I acted as Architect for Conversions, Extensions and New Build for Small Surgeries to large Primary Care Centres in Greater Manchester, Liverpool and Yorkshire.
CARE HOMES
For many years I acted as Architect for the Morris Feinmann Home in Didsbury. A fantastic experience working with Dr Peter Kurer and the staff of the home. A great team. Amongst the projects was Barfield House Apartments, part of the Home campus. Other projects included Newlands, Carmel Court and Gan Eden for MJHA
COMMERCIAL
The first significant project was the development of the former BHS department store in Manchester in the mid 1980’s, then offices and warehousing for RMS International in Swinton, Advanced Cladding in Clayton and Dram Electronics in Bredbury. Most recently Restaurant and Patisserie for Turquoise in Bramhall.
